Raven Dance
"The Raven has always been at the center of First Nations mythology. There are countless stories of how he brought us the sun, the moon and the stars. Also known as the Trickster, he was able to transform himself into the shape of humans and other animals.
As a result, he is perhaps the best known to those who know relatively little about First Nations culture. It is his universal appeal as the hero and the villain that I think draws many to him, and it is for this reason that I like him.
This particular painting is very traditional; the Raven is seen from the front with his wings spread out wide, as if in a dance."
