Into the Blue is a statement that the First Nations art has a palette that has incorporated many colours not just those that are deemed ‘traditional’. Traditional colours are what we use today. In the early times red and black were abundant - they were traditional. Today we have an unlimited palette to chose from it is up to the artist and the viewer whether or not the colours are accepted. Into the Blue is a killer whale combining new colours with traditonal icongraphy and an old story of the killer whale that kidnaps the wife of Nanasgimit - thus the faces of the female and male.
